Hoppy Easter card using SSS March 2016 card kit

Hoppy Easter card using SSS March 2016 card kit

Hello Friends, do you struggle with motivation sometimes? I know I do. I do have a few favorite places to visit when I am looking to get my mojo back. Pinterest, Instagram are a couple favorites. I also like to visit blogs that have challenges. Challenge blogs help kick start my creativity by giving me some theme / sketch to work with. And often there are prizes to be won. What’s not to like about that, right? ! Ok, enough rambling, let’s move on to the card for today.

The staring point for today’s card was this sketch (MFTWSC270) from the MFT Sketch Challenge:

MFT Card Challenge Sketch 270

With this sketch and the sweetest paperpack from the March Card kit, I decided to put together an Easter card.

I think I went a little die-cut crazy with this one! Here is all that I die cut:

  1. Using MFT Tag Builder dies:
    1. One tag with no opening in the middle, out of the pink patterned paper with white letters / words
    2. Another tag with no opening in the middle, out of a piece of acetate
    3. One tag with a rectangle open in the middle, out of some gray fun foam
    4. Another tag with a rectangle open in the middle, out of some patterned paper with multi colored lines
    5. One banner out of the yellow patterned paper
    6. One tag hole cover
  2. Using the littlest bunny die from the kit, I die cut several bunnies out of the patterned paper that had rows of colorful bunnies. Even if the lines on the design do not coincide exactly, it cuts out the bunnies pretty well. I guess, I could have fussy cut these but die cutting saved me some time.

Once I had all the die cut pieces, I built the shaker tag – one layer at a time. First, I adhered bunnies to the inside pink piece. Then I adhered the foam tag on top and filled it with some sequins from the kit. Then I adhered the acetate on top and finally the front panel of that tag. I also adhered two more bunnies on the back side, kinda like peeping out from both sides. Then I adhered the cover on the tag hole and put a ribbon + twine on top.

After the shaker was ready, I put together the banner. The stamp for “Hoppy Easter” comes as two words, one above the other. I wanted them side by side, so I used a pair of sharp scissors to cut the stamp and separate those two words. I stamped both the words side by side on the banner using SSS black ink. Then I folded the banner and used tiny drops of glossy accents to hold the folds in place. I took a button and threaded some twine through it and made a bow on top. I added this button and one more bunny on one side of the sentiment.

Finally I adhered all of these with a few buttons and sequins on top of my card base. For attaching the buttons to paper, I used tiny glue dots so that the buttons would stay put.

In addition to the MFT sketch challenge, I am planning to add it to the Simon Says Stamp Touchy Feely challenge, too. With the shaker element, the ribbon and twine on the tag, the bunnies and the buttons, there’re a lot of different textures going on on this card, don’t you think?

Would you like to create something like this? If so, I’d encourage you to give SimonSaysStamp’s monthly card kit a try.
