Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #14

Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #14

Hi peeps, it’s time for  challenge #14 over at SSD tic-tac-toe challenge blog. Here’s the grid for this one:

Challenge 14 Updated

For this one, I picked the horizontal top row and made a simple yet pretty card. This is one of my favorite card making formulas / layout, and with the doodled look of these Altenew stamp images, it works really well.

To begin with, I die cut a panel from Strathmore watercolor paper using the largest rectangle die from SSS Stitched rectangle dies. I used my MISTI to come up with an arrangement of all the little images from Altenew Beautiful You stamp set and stamped all at once using Ranger archival black ink. This ink is waterproof and works well with watercoloring or distress inks watercoloring techniques. I used the distress inks to watercolor this time. Then I went around with only black outline images and filled in any wide open spaces in my design. For a doodled look, I left these filler images un-colored.

Next I heat embossed my sentiment using Martha Stewart’s antique gold embossing powder and die cut the panel using one of spellbinders dies that came in my last month’s kit. It fit around the embossed sentiment perfectly.

Lastly I mounted the base watercolor panel on SSS schoolhouse red cardstock with red colored fun foam. I also mounted the middle sentiment panel using white fun foam. When adding dimensions to large die cut like the ones on these cards, I like to use fun foam because it gives an evenly raised look + does not get squished in mail. To finish off the card, I placed some random sequins around my sentiment.

Easy and super quick but so very pretty. Hope you like this card. Do share your thoughts in comments. You know I love to hear from you :-)
