Canvas Art / Wall Decor Set using card making supplies

Hi friends, today I have a set of two canvases to share with you. Again, I added paper crafting touches to these. I am not 100% sure this is a mixed media kinda project. But using these basic ideas you can easily add more mixed media touches (and I will share some ideas below).

For these both canvases,

  • I used three 12×12 papers from my stash – the one with “today, tomorrow and forever”, the one with graphic twisted stripes and the one with word borders “home is where the heart is..” etc.
  • I cut each of these sheets the way you see here to make sure that each combined pattern of papers covered entire front of my canvases. {Michaels stores often has offers and discounts on canvases and I will buy a few now and then, because I am a hoarder like that.}
    • To make sure that the sizes of the final patterns were exact, I layered a letter size printer paper on top of the canvas, adjusted the top pattern to cover the canvas and adhered the papers on to the paper. Making it like so, let me handle the top pattern separately and move it as I needed.
  • Next I die cut several elements
    • From gold foiled paper, I die cut the rectangular frame and two smaller floral pieces using Spellbinders Large Die of the Month kit for April 2018.
    • From the same gold foiled cardstock, I also die cut a couple birds – these beautiful bird dies are from Momenta company and I bought these from Hobby Lobby. But these are also available on Amazon and I will link to the product in my supplies list below.
    • I also die cut two sets of corners using Spellbinders Elegant 3D Vignettes dies by Becca Feeken
    • Next I die cut the word ‘love’ using Hero Arts die two times. I used two shades of brownish paper from my stash to match the color of “today tomorrow and forever”. I layered these two by slightly offsetting them and adhered using liquid glue.

  • I adhered all the die cut pieces on top of the patterned papers using foam squares except for the corners. Next I adhered the bottom printer paper to the canvas, and then added corners using hot glue.

  • Finally I wanted to bring in a little bit of the bright colors onto the other side, so I sprinkled a little bit of sequins in matching colors.

These both canvases are now part of my decor in living room. Love how they turned out. Hope you will give this idea a try too. Don’t forget to share how it works out for you.
