Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers + Distress Ink Squishing

Okay, I totally went to town with distress inks and the SSS Beautiful Flowers for today’s card.

I started by die cutting a stitched rectangle from Canson cold press watercolor paper. Next I used Black Archival ink and stamped the main floral image as well as the sentiment – “you are so” along with the outline word “LOVED”. Archival ink is waterproof, I knew I wanted to add watercolor / distress ink with water on top, so I used this ink. For good measure, I let it sit and dry completely (for about 5-10 mins) before doing anything else.

When my panel was dry and ready, I took some packaging material and squished Festive Berries distress ink on it. I sprayed some water on top to make it liquid-y, turned it over and rubbed the liquid-y pigment on top of my watercolor, stamped panel. I tried to stay somewhere near the flowers for this color. I repeated the same thing with Fossilized Amber, Antique Linen, Bundled Sage and Mermaid Lagoon. At some places, I let the colors mix and played with it some more.

Next I mounted this rectangle panel on a black card base and added clusters of chunky glitter in different places. To do this, I squirted a layer / blob of multi medium matte glue in different areas of the design and added a pinch of glitter on top. Keeping with the same colors, I added light shading in the outlined letters – loved – using Prismacolor Premium pencils.

Loved how it turned out and it was so much fun to make too :-) Hope you do give it a try.

    1. Any transparent packaging material – like the stamp packet would do. Basically what you need is a non-porous surface, and with the transparent packaging material, it’s easy to see where you are putting down the colors.

Thanks for dropping by, Lael !!
