Spellbinders | Happy Birthday | Combining Die Kits

Hello my dear crafty friends! I do have a new card idea for you and it combines multiple die kits from Spellbinders. I just love how these kits get better and better each month and each one works perfectly well with the ones in the past. What’s not to love about that, right?

The bouquet die from Spellbinders Jan 2019 Large Die of the month kit is just so awesome. Any flower dies that you have will work for this idea. For this card, I did a lot of die cutting

  1. First I created several flowers with the die from this kit – each flower has two sets of petals – light and dark pink, light and dark yellow and dark and light purple. The light colored pink and dark colored yellow petals have glitter. For each flower, I also added a long dark green stem.
  2. Next I cut the bouquet out of patterned paper, a bow + a couple sprigs from gold mirrored cardstock. I also die cut the work happy twice – once using black and another time using gold mirrored cardstock and layered the two together slightly offset from each other.
  3. Last, as the backdrop for my bouquet, I cut out a heart (also from Jan 2019 Large Die of the month kit) using some patterned paper.

I assembled my bouquet, placed it in my MISTI how I wanted it to go on the heart, placed the die cut ‘Happy’ and stamped the word “Birthday” under it. Once I was happy with everything, I added foam adhesive and liquid glue and assembled my focal point, the heart.

For my card base, I used a navy cardstock from my collection. For added interest, I added scor lines on the card front and also a piece of rose gold washi tape. This tape and all the patterned papers on this card came from various Spellbinders card kits. Finally I added more foam tape to add the heart on top and called it done.

Well, almost. Just because I could not leave this card alone, I added highlights using my Micron pen to all the flowers. Since there was a lot going on on this card, I decided to not add any more embellishments and finally called it done :-)

Hope you like this idea and give it a try.
