Spellbinders | Mermaid Card using Card Kit for July 2019

Hi friends,

Today’s card is another magical Disney one and I have a special recipient in mind for it ;-)

Yup, I had to make Ariel the Little Mermaid! I love this little princess for her curiosity and adventure and fearlessness. She is someone who is also a collector of things, so I used the ‘treasure’ theme in here with the sentiment saying ‘you are a treasure’ and added a shell with pearl.

For this card, I used one glimmery blue cardstock from my stash and cut it to size with largest rectangle from Hemstitch Rectangles die set. To give it some interest, I ink blended with Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass distress oxide inks. I wanted the light to come from the top – slightly right side, so that area got a blending of Tumbled Glass while the other three sides got Stormy Sky.

Next I used July 2019 Stamp of the Month kit from Spellbinders + FSJ and also the Shellebrate stamp set included in Spellbinders July 2019 Card kit of the month to stamp an underwater scene. I used Gina K Amalgam ink + MISTI to do this stamping. The plants, a little snail, a school of fish and bubbles – these two kits just worked perfectly together. There is a bubble stamp included in Shellebrate stamp set, but somehow it was missing in my set. So I just used the one from Stamp of the Month set. #nobiggie

For my Ariel – I used colors that matched my princess for hair, her top and her tail. I also heat embossed her top and all the top layers of her tail with Cloud 9 embossing powder from Wow! for some extra shine. For her hair, I added a star fish and a flower, both made using dies from the kit.

For the treasure, I used two die cut plants, one large shell and a shell with a pearl. Both these ephemera pieces came with white border or something else around the main shell, so I fussy cut these out.

Finally I made my Ariel hold the sentiment in her hands, added some Pearl White jewels from Pretty Pink Posh for more bubbles and called this card done.
