Thank you card with SSS Flowers-on-my-mind stamp set

Thank you card using stamps from SSS March 2015 card kit

Hello friends, the most common cards I find myself making are the Thank-You cards. I do try to maintain a gratitude journal – a small note book where I write my thank-you’s every night. I find that just spending 10 mins a day doing this makes me put things in perspective. It also re-reminds me of the blessed life I have and all the people in my life that make it magical. No wonder I do feel like making Thank-You cards most often :-) For making this card, I used the following supplies: 1. Before I started making cards by …

DIY PostIt Notes holder

Hi there! Today’s post is a video tutorial showing how to make a PostIt notes holder. I love post it notes and I use them a LOT! I saw a PostIt notes holder on internet somewhere and couldn’t get the idea of making one myself out of my head. So a few weeks ago, I made this one as a gift for one of my dear friends. This time when my Simon Says Stamp card kit for August arrived, I decided to make another one using the papers in the kit. While making this second one, I also put together a …

Pocket books / mini books with index cards and washi tape

Mini pocket books

  Each year at her school, my older one participates in a market place. It’s day that students get to be pretend-merchants. They get to make some small items, set up a small store at their school and sell what they made. Last year, when we still lived in TN and princess D went to Moore Elementary school, she had one market place day. Our dear friends Lisa and her lovely daughter Abby helped us make pretty little hair accessories and we also made a tutorial (here). This year princess D goes to Ben Rush elementary at Redmond, WA. She just had …

Crafting with kids

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow… :)  That’s what my kids are singing these days. With the extreme chill setting in this part of the world, outside our home looks covered in white. The skies are grey and you can see the puff of smoke when you breathe. What a perfect excuse to stay indoors, be warm and cozy and CRAFT!!! That is exactly what we did this past weekend. It really started when we had our older Princess’s birthday party. When her friends looked at the different things we have done in our home, they all …

Cherish

This post is long overdue. It’s a confession of sorts. I have this weird (OCD’ic?) urge to always do something – if there aren’t 3-4 projects running side by side for me to chase, I don’t really feel good. It’s like my brain feels useless if it is not solving something. Also, I am always full of worries. Correction, I used to be always full of worries. I used to start a new project – at work or at home (artsy-craftsy stuff) and also start worrying when I was not able to get something done in one sitting. Once I …

DIY Scarecrow – school project

When we moved from India to US in the month of August, I was a little worried about my babies. Specially my older one, Diya. She was leaving behind not only her family but also her school – the teachers who adored her; her classmates and seniors who had grown to be great friends. I prayed that her new school should also be something she’d come to love. And with each passing day, I feel my prayers are coming true. Her teachers here in the Moore Elementary School, love and care for her just like her teachers back in India, …

Two more scrapbook pages

So, over this 3-day-weekend I not only made earrings and cooked, I also stole some time to put together two more scrapbook pages: Page 1: This is where the story of our two little princesses begins. Mom and Dad were just a couple young people who lived miles apart, met online (Yes!), found that they really would like to spend the rest of their lives together. Details of page 1: I hand made the little birdie above Did you catch the tiny miny butterfly? Page 2: The beginning of our happily ever after. Our wedding reception :) The details: Kinda …

Thank-you (hanging paper craft) {Tutorial}

If there’s one thing  I want my kids to learn, even if they do not learn anything else much from me, is – the attitude of gratitude. Today’s craft celebrates the simple act that can fill your heart with joy. The act of saying “Thanks”. My aajji (grandma) was close to her eighties. She would wake up quite early each morning – 5’ish and then work in the kitchen and generally around the house all day long. She would have tea in the kitchen itself, no breakfast. Finally after all her kids and kids’ kids were fed, she would sit …

Styrofoam plate decoration {Tutorial}

Emily from jonesdesigncompany keeps putting up beautiful wreaths and I always feel like I should also make one. But near the place where I live we do not get the basic wreath material / strcture. :( I tried creating one with Thermocol material, but didn’t like the result much. So while I keep my search for ideas to make wreaths, I decided to try something with a Styrofoam plate instead. This is a quick little tutorial which can help you create something similar. :)   Things you’ll need: Styrofoam plate Papers – colorful for roses, thick green for leaves, thick …

Baby girls moments – princess scrapbook

Warning: this is the first time I am undertaking a scrapbooking project, so not sure my process is right. I am just going with what-works-for-me. :) Before making full fledged pages and layouts, I’ve decided to put together various embellishments. Here’s first set of princess attire: All these are made from paper. The dress: I have used thick pink color paper like the one used in greeting cards. (Do you call it cardstock?) It’s a simple evening gown cutout embellished with stones and white paper roses. I used the simple and fun tutorial by Dozi Design for making the roses. Grey and …
