3 more watercolored cards using Simon Says Stamp Stronger Together card kit

Namaste! Watercoloring is going strong in my neck of the woods. And lucky for me, the current Simon Says Stamp Stronger Together card kit has 3 pre-printed watercolor cards by the amazingly talented Suzy Plantamura. I used those to create these 3 cards. For all these, I used the watercolor pencils that came with the kit. Let’s look at each of them, shall we? Card 1: I used the gray, two yellows and two greens to color these daisies. Then I fussy cut them out using my Tim Holtz mini snips and Fiskars Fingertip Precision Knife. For the background, I …

Simon Says Stamp Card Kit – Stronger Together – Card 1

Hi guys, after so many days of working on die cut based cards, I am shifting to my old love – watercolors – at least for a little bit. And the perfect companion for this was this month’s Simon Says Stamp – Stronger Together card kit for March 2020. I started by die cutting a piece of Canson watercolor paper using the largest Memory Box Warped Stitched rectangle die. Then I stamped my images on it using Archival Black ink and my trusted MISTI. I used Ooku watercolor pens that I had won in a preview giveaway. These watercolor pens …

Watercolor Card using Dec 2019 Card kit of the Month from Spellbinders

Hi friends, did you know that along with the foxy dies, this month’s Spellbinders card kit also includes a stamp set that has a cute little foxy too? Today I made a card using the stamp set and used Gansai Tambi watercolors with it. I cut my Ranger watercolor panel to be almost a square. I stamped my images using black archival ink (waterproof) and colored them in with my Gansai Tambi watercolors. Next I used a patterned paper from the kit for layering and also added gold on its border using gold paint pen. For a little something extra, …

Spellbinders | Stamp of the Month August 2019

Kids are back to school since last week and that means cards with books, backpacks and more, right? Hello and welcome! Today I have a card that uses Spellbinders + FSJ Stamp of the Month kit that’s just perfect for a book-lover :-) I started by stamping the images on watercolor paper using GinaK Amalgam black ink and coloring them with Ooku watercolor brush markers. I used Yellowish Brown, Silver for the books. I also used some Antique Linen with a water brush to give the books some added interest. For the apple I used Ooku markers again – Bright …

Hand drawn flowers and Ooku watercolors – card idea 3

Hi friends! I hope you are ready for my third hand drawn card. Yes, soon I will return to stamping and die cutting cards. But while I am at it, I am sharing one more hand drawn one. This was also one of the flowers I learned and drew using the “In Bloom..” book. This is an amazing book – very easy to understand instructions and detailed illustrations. Nicely done. Here’s the card: To check detailed steps, check the older card here. And for supply list? Check below :-) And before you go, here’s a closeup … SUPPLIES LIST For …

Hand drawn flowers and Ooku watercolors – card idea 2

Hi friends, happy Sunday! I am here with another card idea using something I sketched and colored by myself. :-) This Christmas Santa (wink wink) gave me a book that teaches sketching for florals – “In Bloom: A Step-by-Step Guide to Drawing Lush Florals ” by Rachel Reinrt. I am so in love with this book. So far I have drawn two things out of it. Today’s card using one of them which is this beautiful succulent echeveria. Had so much fun making this card. I started by die cutting a rectangle using my current favorite rectangle dies from Memory Box …

Hand drawn flowers and Ooku watercolors – card idea 1

Hi friends, one of the goals I set for myself for 2019 is to draw / sketch more and also play more with watercolors. I used to love all sketching when I was in college and wanted to get back into it a little more. Here’s my first card: I wanted to keep it simple for the first time after years, so I die cut a heart using My Favorite Things largest of the stitched hearts dies so that I could get by with only a small image. I scrolled through several Pinterest images for inspiration and then drew one …

Spellbinders – Good Vibes – Card idea 5

Hi friends, today also I used the Shapeabilities Lovely Lilac Etched Dies Good Vibes Only collection by Stephanie Low but with stamped background. I started with a black card base and a off-white panel that is slightly smaller. I die cut it using largest stitched rectangle die from Simon Says Stamp and stamped with the Dear Ruby background stamp from Spellbinders. I used Hero Arts – Artprint Brown dye ink for this stamping. Then I did a lot of die cutting – I cut out some green and black leaves this time from So Very Generous dies (same Good Vibes Only …

Happy Card Making day my friends! I hope you find lots of reasons to make cards and spread happy thoughts out in the world, sprinkle cheer like confetti :-) Here’s my card for today.. part of the same good vibes series – this is idea #4. I used the Shapeabilities Lovely Lilac Etched Dies Good Vibes Only collection by Stephanie Low with a dry embossed background. I started with a black card base and a white panel that is slightly smaller. I dry embossed it with Darice Brick Wall pattern embossing folder. Then I did a lot of die cutting – I …

Spellbinders – Good Vibes – Card idea 3

Hello friends, some fun die cutting technique today using the Shapeabilities Rosy Summer Flowers Etched Dies. This die has two parts – one outline die for the whole image (flower + leaves) and another one that cuts out the lines in middle of the design. I used both for this card. To start with, I die cut the outline from a patterned paper from my stash. Laying this on a similar sized panel of Bristol watercolor card-stock I lightly traced through it using a pencil. This became my guide to lay down some distress inks – Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and …

Altenew Build-a-flower Larkspur – Watercolored

Hi friends, I am playing with the Altenew Larkspur stamp set again – this time with my favorite mediums – water colors. I am not a watercolor expert at all, but I love to play with them. For this card, I heat embossed a couple flowers and several leaves to create a floral cluster. Having heat embossed lines makes it so much easy to watercolor as you don’t need to worry about going outside the lines etc. The melted embossing powder forms a ‘well’ to hold the color in it. I did not do any precise details etc, just some …

Simon Says Stamp | August 2018 card kit – Mandy’s Flowers – Card idea 5

Hi friends, are you ready for one more card using Simon Says Stamp August 2018 card kit – Mandy’s Flowers stamp set? I hope you are :-) {Check out other ideas for this stamp set / card kit here.} Similar card to this one here, except I layered this with a black cardstock piece which I had dry embossed with Darice Scroll Frame embossing folder. And for watercoloring, I used Festive Berries, Fossilized Amber, Bundled Sage and Mermaid Lagoon. Trying to keep it really simple today, so not getting into details. Shoot me any questions you might have and I will …

Simon Says Stamp | August 2018 card kit – Mandy’s Flowers – Card idea 4

Hi friends, we are still celebrating with SSS Mandy’s Flowers stamp set over here. You can check out previous card ideas here. Today’s card is a “flip” card – it uses a fun fold to make the front open with a flip. I started by using one ready made card base. On the front side of this one, I partially die cut a circle to create the circular flap. I made a fold in between the front side of the card and lined up the half part of my circle die to that line. I placed my top cutting plate …

Simon Says Stamp | August 2018 card kit – Mandy’s Flowers – Card idea 3

Hi friends, I have a shaped card today using Mandy’s Flowers stamp set. I used Hero Arts infinity circle dies to create a circle shape out of white cardstock. On this I stamped the round floral wreath like image and colored using Zig real brush markers. I used Yellow, Light Green, and Light Pink colors. I added pink dots on the springs to bring in some pink colors and not just have yellow-green. For the stamping I used waterproof Archival Black ink, but since I had not stamped on a watercolor paper, I did not use any water, just markers …
