Hi guys, September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and promote resources that can save lives. Suicide is a complex issue that affects individuals, families, and communities. It’s crucial to understand that help is available and that reaching out can make a significant difference. I am participating in the 2nd Annual Suicide Prevention Card Hop to spread this awareness and this is Day 5.
One of the most effective ways to prevent suicide is by fostering open conversations about mental health. Encouraging people to talk about their feelings without judgment can reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. It’s important to listen actively and offer support to those who may be struggling.
Resources like the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) provide immediate help to those in crisis. Additionally, community programs and support groups can offer ongoing assistance and a sense of belonging. Educating ourselves and others about the signs of suicidal behavior, such as withdrawal, drastic mood changes, and expressions of hopelessness, can help us intervene early.
If you're struggling, please contact #988 for 24/7 support via call or text. Together, we can help #StopSuicide.
Not sure how to start a #RealConvo about mental health? Check out @afspnational’s #RealConvo Guides at https://afsp.org/realconvo!
If you think someone is struggling, trust your gut. Ask directly and listen.
A special “Thank you” to our special guests! Today, Libby Hickson @createwithlibby and Kelly Santi @createwithkas are joining us to share their voices and creativity to support our mission.
Remember, you are not alone. By coming together and supporting one another, we can create a community of hope and resilience. Let’s use this month to spread awareness, show compassion, and take action to prevent suicide.
Here are 2 more cards I created for Day 5 using our latest free digis:
I printed on vellum and then used alcohol inks to create the background. An oval frame to hide my adhesive and a sentiment sticker was all I added to the first one. Oh and I added background to the other side of printed design on this one.
To the second one I did play with a little bit of gold flakes and this is where I added alcohol inks right on top of my printed design itself. I liked both outputs. Do you have a favorite out of the two? Do let me know.
p.s. To get these digis for free, please subscribe as a Silver member.
Enjoy! ~Varada
