Adding texture to card

Hi friends, today’s card is inspired by Simon Says Stamp last Wednesday’s Challenge. The theme is “Add Some Texture” and they are featuring Tim Holtz products, so I focused on the same too. I did combine Tim Holtz products with a couple products from Spellbinders because the rules of the challenge are not restricting crafters to use the same products.

For my card, I used a gray side folding A2 card base. I used Dear Ruby background stamp from Spellbinders and Hero Arts white ink to stamp the scribbles on two corners on the card base. While the ink was still wet, I added opaque white Zing embossing powder and heat embossed it. This is my texture #1. :-)

For my next layer, I took a piece of white card stock and die cut it out using the largest die from Botanical Bliss Label 54 etched dies.On this flat die cut piece, I added texture by dry embossing it with Tim Holtz Birch embossing folder. This is my texture #2. :-)

I die cut several flowers using Tim Holtz Sizzix Small Tattered Florals Thinlits Die. I used some yellow cardstock from my stash for the flowers and green for leaves. I also added additional shading to the inner (smaller) petals using Spectrum Noir pens.I used GB6 for flower and JG2 for leaves. Just this one step takes the flowers (and any die cut) to the next level.

I layered multiple flowers, small and big, using a foam square and also added a sequin to the center. I shaped the petals to make them look more dimensional and did the same with leaves.

For my sentiment, I was using a sentiment ephemera that came in one of the Spellbinders card kits. This is a beautiful, large sentiment which looks like it is stamped with black color on gray-ish cardstock rectangle. I added this to the center of the white layered piece with foam tape.

Next I arranged the flowers and leaves in a cluster in two corners and adhered some with liquid glue, some with foam squares. I also added two confetti butterflies on each one of the flower clusters for a fun spring feeling. Finally I added several sequins using liquid glue, rounded the corners using 1″ corner rounding punch and called it done.
