For a change, I have a recipe to share with you all. This is my Aai’s recipe and as with rest of her recipes, this is healthy and tasty :-)
We took about 2 cups of yellow moong daal, washed and soaked it overnight. Next morning we added 4 green chillies, 1 tsp cumin (jeera) seeds and about 1 cup of water ground it to a fine paste. We then added 2 cups of rava (semolina / sooji), 3/4 cup of yogurt (dahi), 1 tsp jaggery powder (can substitute dark brown sugar) and salt to taste and mixed it well. With all this, we also adjusted the water a little to make it uttapam / dosa batter consistency and added finely chopped onion.
Then we heated a girdle (tawa), lightly greased it with oil and made uttapam as usual. We served it with store-bought garlic chutney and long beans+potato bhaji (subzi). It was just so yummy!!
Do give this simple yet different uttapam recipe a try and let me know how you liked it. :-)
On a related but different note, I am going to slow down a little for the next few weeks. Summer time, school’s out, we have parents visiting us and it is time to give ‘life’ a little more time. Yes, there will be crafty adventures too (of course) and I will share those too. So do keep visiting here and sharing some love. I always read your comments and your kindness inspires me to share more crafty ideas with you.
Thanks for dropping by and hope you have an awesome summer too!!
Hugs! ~Varada
