Merry and Bright Christmas cards

A couple last minute Christmas cards. It’s great to leave a loving note along with that little something in those stockings 🙂

Both these cards were made using Simon Says Stamp Merry and Bright stamp set that came in the December 2016 card kit. This card kit also came with a chibi lights kit and I am so wanting to play with them. But that’s for another post 🙂 I created both these cards at the same time – with almost same supplies and they came together really quickly.

On the first one I arranged all my larger stamps in a random pattern on my MISTI and stamped them all at once using Black Archival ink on Strathmore watercolor panel. Then I colored directly using Zig real brush watercolor markers and a waterbrush. Next I added a couple strips of patterned paper on one of which I had stamped the sentiment. I adhered it directly to the watercolor panel. I went around filling in some gaps with smaller images like the tiny ornament and snowflakes. To finish off the card, I attached the panel to my card base and added glossy accents on some images.

For my second card, I did a very basic masking with the tree and presents stamps. I colored using the same Zig watercolor markers and my waterbrush. Next I heat embossed my sentiment with Martha Stewart green embossing powder and adhered the watercolor panel to my card front. To finish off, I added a twine at the top and glossy accents on some images.
