Another fun birthday card today. Are you all ready for it? 🙂

On the outside, this is a gatefold card with a belly band. When opened, it reveals a cascade with lots of flowers, leaves, a couple of birds, and a beautiful foiled sentiment. All this sounds and looks complex, but it really isn’t. I have a video for you explaining the main pieces and if you still have questions, you know where to find me. So, shall we start?

Here’s the card:

This card mainly has three parts. Let’s take a look at each one from the outside in.

1. The belly band: This is made using a strip of white cardstock that measures 8.5″ x 1.5″. On top of this strip, I added some gold glitter tape for interest, wrapped it around my gatefold, and adhered it securely where it meets in the middle. On top of the middle piece, I also added a scalloped circle in blue + a sentiment die cut that says, “From all of us”.
2. Next comes the gatefold: This is made using white cardstock that measures 8.5″ x 4 inches. I scored it at 2.125″ (2 and 1/8″) on either side and folded to make these meet in the middle. I did have a slight overlap that I trimmed using my guillotine trimmer. On the two flaps outside as well as on the entire area inside, I lightly ink blended Summer Sky color from Hero Arts. Then I stenciled the leaves with Aquatic color on top of the light blue color for a tone-on-tone look.
3. The last piece is the cascade itself: This one is easier to show than explain in words. Do check out my video on YouTube.

I hope you will give this card design a try. While listing supplies, I could not find the older Spellbinders Small Die of the Month set from Dec 2018. I have linked to the Large Die of the Month set from the same month which also has a sentiment circle and a scalloped circle that can be used here, of course with another matching sentiment on the inside.
