Hi friends! Today I am sharing a fun (and easy) twist on the popular technique of Spotlight coloring. Spotlight coloring is typically done when you have an image stamped but only a part of it colored. The colored part, more often than not, is one of the basic geometric shapes. For instance, you might stamp a large floral stamp to go across your card front. Then only a circular area on that stamped image will have color added to it, while the rest is just the stamped lines.
Look at my card here and I think you will be able to figure out the simplification I made. Right? 🙂
Yes, I used MISTI to stamp and heat emboss twice – once on my hexagonal card base and then on the inner hexagonal panel. Lined them up so that the inner hexagon is foam mounted and the heat embossed design lines up.
Easy, right? Here are the detailed steps, just in case you need them:
- Create a hexagonal card base
- Stamp and heat emboss the design on the card front
- Die cut a smaller hexagon from a patterned paper. Make sure the patterned paper is not too busy or too colorful.
- In the MISTI align this smaller hexagon on top of the card base where you want the spotlight to be. If the sentiment was also arranged (like in my case), arrange the inside piece to get a bit of both – the image + the sentiment.
- Assemble
Done 🙂 Enjoy!
