A cup of tea and a little creativity

Hi everyone! It’s been a little while, but I’m so excited to be back and sharing a new project with you.

I originally designed this card with the intention of popping it in the mail, but after a dear person saw it and fell in love, I’ve decided to hand-deliver it instead! There’s just something special about a handmade gift finding its perfect home right away, don’t you think?

This project is all about that cozy, timeless tea theme—perfect for all the chai lovers and tea enthusiasts in your life. I used the Concord & 9th Afternoon Tea Dies to bring this vision to life. The set is so versatile, with everything from delicate cups to ornate pots, and it really lets you play with different patterns and textures.

Bringing in the “Antique” Vibes

For the star of the show—the teapot and matching teacup—I reached for a gorgeous, traditional paper pad from Michael’s Recollections. The design features a stunning bird and floral motif that gives the whole card an antique, sophisticated feel. By die-cutting these from the patterned paper, the teapot feels like a piece of fine china.

To make the designs pop, I layered them over a vibrant, watercolor-style background in shades of purple and magenta. The contrast between the soft, vintage patterns and the bold, modern background creates a really lovely dynamic.

The Finishing Touches

No tea set is complete without a few accents! I added some delicate die-cut flowers in soft pinks and blues, complete with tiny gold centers to match the gold-foiled teapot lid and handle. A little sentiment that reads, “you’re one of my favorites,” nestled right under the teapot, adds that final touch of warmth.

I had so much fun putting this one together, and I hope it inspires you to dust off your favorite patterned papers and create something special for a friend.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
