This month’s Large Die of the month kit from Spellbinders is just so much fun! It’s a door!! And you can put a message inside. You should definitely check out Yana Smakula’s cards with this kit – she really took it ‘over the top’ 🙂

Here’s my card – I intentionally left the outside sentiment-less. When you open the door, you can see the sentiment inside – it’s still on the front panel of the card, but recipient will open the door to see it 🙂

Key Ingredients:

1. Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for October 2020
2. Spellbinders Charming Cottage Box die set
3. Simon Says Stamp Christmas Cheer stamp set
4. Blistered embossing folder

Steps:

1. Die cut the door from a piece of blue cardstock. I used a leftover piece that is just slightly larger than the door on all sides.

1. Die cut the following:
2. The columns, the piece for the top of columns and also the piece near the door using off white cardstock. Emboss all these pieces using the same dies.
3. The small decorative elements for the columns.
4. The doormat with the words using a patterned paper. Again, I used scraps here.
5. The piece under the doormat using black cardstock.
6. The front glass panel for the door – I used silver paper for the outline and gold for the inlays. Gold inlays to show that light is coming from inside the house.
7. The letter and a small piece to put the letter in.
8. The inlays for the squares below the glass area.
9. A snowflake with gold mirror cardstock.
10. Christmas tree from the Charming Cottage Box die set. Also emboss this tree.
11. Trim a panel from white cardstock to be slightly larger than the door opening. Use MISTI to stamp several snowflakes and sentiment on this. I used matching blue ink to do this stamping. MISTI will help place the panel exactly in the center when door gets opened.
12. Assemble the columns.
13. Assemble the inlaid glass area – before die cutting, I added double sided adhesive on the gold and silver cardstocks so that it would become easy to adhere all the small pieces.
14. Assemble the scene and add the sentiment panel on the inside.
15. Dry emboss a panel using Blistered embossing folder and add the scene on top of it.
16. Add the tree on the side and the gold snowflake on top to finish the project.
