Hi everyone! Happy Friday 🙂
Today I have 2-for-1 cards. The main technique for the cards is something I saw in one of Jennifer McGuire’s videos and the coloring of these gorgeous blooms is inspired by Marika Rahtu – a colorer I have admired for so long. I absolutely love her way of adding fine details with pencils on top of a watercolored or even copic colored image. I learnt about it in one of the Altenew Educator Certification classes. I am loving the classes so far 🙂
Let’s stop my talking and look at the cards, shall we?
Key Ingredient:
- Altenew Perfectly Perfect stamp set
- Altenew Sketched Lines Stencil
- Altenew Beautiful Inside stamp set
- Antique Linen Distress Ink
- Gansai Tambi Watercolors
- Derwent Inktense Pencils
Steps:
- Stamp flowers and leaves on Canson Mixed Media using my trusted MISTI and Antique Linen distress ink.
- Die cut all the elements with coordinating dies.
- Lightly watercolor these using gansai tambi watercolors.
- Add lots of details using Derwent Inktense pencils. Make sure the pencils are sharp to get best results.
- Create a cluster of flowers and leaves and lightly hold it together with a washi tape.
- Using a good paper trimmer cut the cluster through the center and divide into two clusters. I used Fiskars 9 Inch Bypass Paper Trimmer which is a guillotine style trimmer and it worked quite well.
- Die cut two A2 sized panels using Waffle Flower A2 layer die set (very handy!!) and dry emboss using the Sketched Lines stencil.
- Assemble the cards with a stripe of pink cardstock and stamp the sentiments. My A2 panels were also light colored and the pink I picked was also a lighter shade, so to add a definite separation between the pink flowers and pink stripe I added another thin stripe of dark purple cardstock from my stash. I picked the purple color for stamping sentiment to match this stripe, just to make things cohesive.
- Sprinkle a few gems on both cards and call it done.
Voila! Two cards for one 🙂
