A “Best Friend” Ace: Giving Leftover Pieces New Life!

A “Best Friend” Ace: Giving Leftover Pieces New Life!

Hi everyone! Varada here. Today, I’m sharing a card that came together quite unexpectedly. I decided to challenge myself by using several pieces I had already created for a previous project, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

The centerpiece of this design is that eye-catching pickleball paddle. I used the Pickleball Pals Dies from Concord & 9th to create the paddle and the “Best Friend” sentiment. The colorful, brushstroke-style pattern on the paddle really sets the tone for the whole card.

For the background detail, I revisited a favorite technique with the Starry Scallops Coverplate Die from Pinkfresh Studio. I cut a random section and then simply rotated it until the circles locked back into the die like a puzzle piece. It’s a quick and easy way to make sure everything stays perfectly squared!

To add a bit of softness to the sporty theme, I tucked in some floral embellishments. The cheerful yellow flowers are from the Afternoon Tea Dies set by Concord & 9th.

For the pink flowers and the dark leaves and the blue lace-y edged panel below, I used some pre-cut pieces I had in my drawer, which I believe are from Spellbinders. In fact I think I have had the blue panel for years! 😀

It just goes to show that you don’t always need to start from scratch to create something special. Sometimes those extra pieces on your desk are just waiting for the right project!

Hugs!
