Hi everyone! I’m back today with a project that is all about mixing and matching my favorite things. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I can rarely stick to just one brand on a card! I love pulling from different collections to see how they play together, and this shaped card is the perfect example of that.
For this project, I decided to step away from the standard rectangular card base and go with a fun, circular shaped card. It adds such a playful touch right from the start. I used one of the scalloped circle dies from Spellbinders to create the base. To give the front of the card some extra personality, I layered a white circle with a dainty cuts around the edge and layered a yellow circle on the inside inside, which creates a lovely frame for the main elements.
The star of the show is the gorgeous pink floral arrangement. These are layering dies from Altenew, and they are so much fun to assemble. Instead of just using flat colored cardstock, I took an extra step to add some life to them. I die-cut the pieces from pink and green cardstock, but then I went back in with a bit of ink blending on the edges. It’s a simple trick, but it really creates that depth and adds interest and depth that you just don’t get with plain paper.
To finish it off, I added a ‘You Are Loved’ sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, while doing a little bit of gold (yellow color family) and pink vellum. I love this particular die because of its modern, continuous-line geometric style—it stands out beautifully against the soft flowers. A few scattered gems for a touch of shine, and this sweet little shaped card was complete!
I’m really curious—how do you feel about shaped cards? Do you reach for them often in your craft room, or do you prefer to stay with the classics? Let me know in the comments below!
Hugs!
