LOVE Wood Sign – upcycled from Goodwill – Valentine home decor craft

Hi friends, in Sharma household last week was just a blur – both girls got the flu bug, and I wasn’t feeling my very best either and overall it was something I am hoping doesn’t happen again, at least not anytime soon at all :( But, we are all back to our regular life now, all recovered and of course, back to crafting :) So today I decided to upcycle a wood sign I had picked up long time ago from Goodwill. It had a very manly quote with a lion picture on top and was quite worse for the …

Love Fall | Mini Canvas Art | Crafty Sales

Hi friends, as some of you might know, I am part of the influencers for Spellbinders Paper Arts, so I do share several products and inspiration using their dies, stamps and more. But to be honest, even when I am not using their supplies as part of promotional blog posts expected of me, I just naturally gravitate towards these supplies for my own crafting too. Today I used some of their older dies – wreath, floral, alphabets – to create a mini canvas. I naturally picked up these supplies and then was surprised that all but 1 die was from …

Fall themed canvas art

Hi friends, today I decided to go to town with a lot of die cutting and made two canvases that are fall themed. I mixed several different products from Spellbinders and Simon Says Stamp to make these and I am so happy to share them with you :-) Each of these is 5×7 inches. For this one, the idea to have the little squirrel hang from the tree and have the acorn came from my friend, Vinutha and I think it looks cute, don’t you? The leaves are from an older Spellbinders kit (older when the kits were called ‘Maker’s …

Tapestry with felt flowers

Hi friends, I have a different project to share today. It’s not a card – it is a wall decor project – an upcycled woven wall tapestry! I found them to be slightly out of budget for me ranging anywhere from simple ones at $35 to even $100+. So I created my own :-) I started with a tapestry from five below I created several felt flowers for this project. For the large ones, I followed this tutorial as my starting point and went with my own little improvisations for the petals etc. For the centers I used thin craft …

Simple Galaxy Wall under $20

Gallery wall 1

Hi everyone, today I have another really simple home decor project for you. A simple, graphic 2×3 gallery wall under $20 – including the frames. For this, I found a 12×12 patterned paper pad “Color washed” from Paper House on sale at my local Joann store. This was for $9.99. I combined the gorgeous papers and stickers from this pad with six 8×10 frames from Dollar Tree. To have the sentiment rectangles have more impact, I also matted each of these with black cardstock rectangles from my stash. It really is that simple, guys! Here are individual frame pictures: For …

Canvas Art / Wall Decor Set using card making supplies

Canvas art using paper crafting supplies 1a

Hi friends, today I have a set of two canvases to share with you. Again, I added paper crafting touches to these. I am not 100% sure this is a mixed media kinda project. But using these basic ideas you can easily add more mixed media touches (and I will share some ideas below). For these both canvases, I used three 12×12 papers from my stash – the one with “today, tomorrow and forever”, the one with graphic twisted stripes and the one with word borders “home is where the heart is..” etc. I cut each of these sheets the …

Mixed Media Bottle

Mixed Media Bottle 1

Hi friends, I have a fun mixed media project to share with you today. I used several of my card making / die cutting supplies to decorate this beautiful bottle. Here’s how I created this project: First off, I wrapped and hot glued a burlap piece and a wrapping ribbon to the bottle. I die cut two pieces from Spellbinders Labels 54 pieces – the decorative one from gold mirrored cardstock and a smaller, normal one from a patterned paper from my stash. I layered these two using foam squares and hot glued it to the wrapped bottle. For the …

DIY Planters 2 – Using Recycled Containers

DIY Planter using recycled containers

Continuing our planters DIYs (from here), I have another idea for you today. We all have different containers that come with various packaging, right? Canned goods, milk supplements and such? With these 3 easy steps, you can transform these into cute planters, specially for indoor succulents, herbs and other small plants. Flatten out any sharp edges with the help of a hammer and clean the container thoroughly. Removed the label (or keep it for a funky look!). For those labels which are hard to remove, simply soak the container in warm soapy water for some time. Spray paint or use …

DIY Planters 1 – Glass Planters using Dollar Tree supplies

Glass Planter using Dollar Tree supplies

Hello friends, ever since we moved into our own house, I have been putting indoor plants and succulents in all our rooms. I have also been making my own planters :-)   These I made from Dollar Tree glass candleholders! I got three of the tall ones and one pack of the little ones – there are two in a pack for $1! To stagger their heights, I adhered a small one upside-down to one of the tall ones using E3600 glue. For another one, I used one of the older candleholders I had in my stash and adhered that …

DIY Bottle Runner

DIY Bottle Runner 1

I love DIYs. And a DIY that calls for just 10 mins of work to put it together and then you get to enjoy it? And something that uses recyclable materials and is eco-friendly? Bring it ON!!! So, I was on Kirkland’s website the other day and spotted this: Loved it for sure. I didn’t want to spend $50 on it. But the idea would not go out of my mind. So I decided to DIY it.  I collected a few bottles – soy sauces, tomato ketchups and a couple beer bottles. I soaked them in hot water + dish …

DIY Fabric Strips Rug

DIY Rug

Hi friends! Hope you are having an awesome day!! In our home we (me) are a huge fan of easy DIYs. As some of you would know, I recently changed my job and between those two, I got about a week time-off. Kids had some more summer time remaining at that time and we utilized it to work on some cool projects. One of our projects was this cute DIY rug. This is a very simple DIY to do and I used it as an excuse to teach my younger one how to sew. Nothing fancy, just basic straight stitches.  …

Home decor / framed art using SSS April 2016 card kit

Framed art using SSS April 2016 card kit

Who says, a card kit should only be used to make cards, right? I will show you how I used the supplies from Simon Says Stamp April 2016 card kit to make framed art.  The pack of stickers and patterned papers in this kit worked perfectly to make art that has daily reminders to “be awesome”. This will work great for your home, office or even craft room. I started with an IKEA Ribba 4″x6″ White Wooden Picture Frame like this one here. I removed the mat that’s included in this frame to cut out a cardstock as big as the mat itself. …
